Park Passport Terms of Use
Last updated 24 September 2026
The short version.
- Be decent to other people. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour in Park Passport.
- If someone breaks that rule, report or block them from the Friends tab. We review every report within 24 hours.
- Anyone who breaks it loses the offending name or content, and can lose their account, without warning.
- Park information in the app is for planning. Check with the park before you go.
Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply when you use Park Passport, the iPhone app. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. In these terms, "we" means the developer of Park Passport.
Apple's standard end user licence agreement for App Store apps also applies. If the two ever disagree, these terms apply to the extent the law allows.
Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users
Some things you write in Park Passport are seen by other people: your username, your display name, the names of crews you create, and anything you write in a report. You are responsible for what you write. You must not use the app to post or send anything that:
- is hateful, or attacks people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age;
- harasses, bullies, threatens, or intimidates anyone, or encourages self-harm or violence;
- is sexually explicit, obscene, or grossly offensive;
- pretends to be another person or organisation, including the National Park Service;
- is spam or advertising; or
- is illegal, or shares someone else's private information without their permission.
You also must not use the app to pester, stalk, or keep contacting someone who has made clear they do not want to hear from you.
We do not tolerate any of this. When we find it, or someone reports it, we remove the content. We may also suspend or permanently delete the account responsible, without warning. We review every report within 24 hours.
Reporting and blocking
In the Friends tab, tap the options button beside someone's name to report or block them.
- Report sends the account's name, the reason you choose, and any note you add to us privately. The person is not told who reported them.
- Block stops you and that person from finding or contacting each other in the app, and ends any friendship or crew invitation between you.
Names are also checked against a list of offensive words before they are saved. No filter catches everything, which is why reporting exists.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- An account is for one person. Keep access to your email and sign-in methods secure, because anyone who can sign in as you can use your account.
- You can delete your account, and everything stored with it, at any time from the account screen in the app.
What you record
Your visits, trips, and names remain yours. You allow us to store them and to show them to the people the app says will see them, as described in the privacy policy, so the app can work. That permission ends when you delete them or your account.
Using the app fairly
Do not try to break, overload, or get around the security of Park Passport or the services it uses; do not collect other people's information from it; and do not use it in a way that breaks the law.
Park information
Park Passport is an independent app. It is not made by or affiliated with the National Park Service. Park details, maps, and routes in the app are for planning and may be out of date or wrong. Closures, conditions, and rules change, so check with the park before you go, and follow the park's rules and signs while you are there.
No guarantees
We provide Park Passport as it is, and we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or keep every record forever. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses from using the app, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update this page and the date at the top, and mention significant changes in the app. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms.
Contact
Questions about these terms go to parkpassportsupport@icloud.com or the Park Passport support page. To report another person, use Report in the app rather than the support page, so your report stays private.
